Why you choose one artwork over another
When someone buys artwork, it’s never just a ‘sale’.
Even if you need to consider practical factors like size, colour, shape and budget - the possibilities of what you could buy are almost limitless.
So what makes you choose one piece of art over another?
Small acts, big impact: How to support artists and makers in real, human ways.
Artists, illustrators, ceramicists, writers, musicians, knitters, zine-makers, tattooers, printmakers, and so many others are building something personal — often from their kitchen tables, late at night, in between work and family, or during moments stolen from the daily grind.
For many of them, the difference between continuing to create or having to pause (or stop entirely) isn’t a patron or a big break — it’s you. And the tiny choices you make.

      What style artist are you?
When people ask me to describe my ‘style’ I guess they are wondering what sort of art container to put my work in. Some typical descriptors people might use for their work are things like abstract, expressionist etc. I’ve always had a little trouble putting my work firmly into one camp. So end up with something rambling (which usually sounds like this ‘well it’s kind of illustrative with a graphic design ish aesthetic, kind of hard edge and blocks of colour sort of thing) that (poorly) speaks more to the output than what my work is about. Yes my artwork can be all of those things, but what it’s really about… is a season. Summer. And it’s about how that season makes me feel.
The rhythm of art
Social media demands that you all always on, always taking action and always externalising. However, when I looked into my own creative cycle I found there are definitely times when what I naturally need in order to do my best work, is at odds with that. Here’s what I discovered…
