Tracey Finch makes artwork that wraps you in golden sunshine and transports you to a special time or place where childhoods were shaped and memories were made.

Tracey is a New Zealand artist who creates coastal artwork with a modern twist that feels both fresh and nostalgic. Her obsession with capturing moments from summer days, springs from spending many homesick years in the UK, where the winters are long and the cold seeps into your bones. She yearned for blue skies, sun kissed skin, salty hair, sand under her feet and to feel the intense summer heat remembered from her Kiwi childhood. To Tracey, summer is a season of fun and hope - a return to simple pleasures, ocean adventures, starry nights and time spent outside in nature, with people you love. Itโ€™s a grounding season that can help you discover a deeper connection with your whanau and the environment.

Through her use of colour and composition, Tracey aims to capture the essence of a scene. Distilling it down to the essential elements so that the viewer isnโ€™t bound to what actually was and instead is free to weave their own stories and reconnect to their own experiences.

Tracey is also part of a small team of artists who brought the first BOP Open Studios art trail to life in Feb 2024, connecting artist with local art lovers across the region.
